OLAT is a Swiss open source learning management system with the leading house at the University of Zurich. In comparison to other open source projects this means that OLAT community members meet directly with the core developers and get first-hand information.
The OLAT CoCo (the OLAT Core Community) was founded in 2009 as a platform for the growing amount of OLAT "power users" and developers throughout Switzerland, Germany and Austria. The OLAT CoCo meet once a year at the University of Zurich to discuss strategic questions and to exchange information and knowledge in workshops.
For the general audience and tutors working with OLAT there is the yearly OLAT User Day. The focus of the user day is to exchange "best practices" and learn from each other. Every four years there is an OLAT conference instead of a user day. The first conference was held in 2008 followed by a user day in 2009 at the University of Zurich. In 2010 the OLAT User Day was held at the University of Hamburg and in 2011 the OLAT User Day was held at the TU Dresden. The user days and conferences are open to everyone, no prior knowledge about OLAT is needed.
