February 3rd 2009, 13:30 - 16:00, Hotel du Parc, Baden (following the eduhub days)
MedidaPrix: Eva Seiler (ES) gives anupdate about the current state about the attemps of re-establishing the participation of Switzerland in the Medida Prix. ES and Peter Baumgartner (president of the Medida Prix) have written a proposal that will be submitted to the state secretary Mauro Dell’Ambrogio. Letters of support are expected from Andreas Fischer (Dean UZH) and Urs Würgler (Dean UniBE). In order to better match the multilingual requirements of Switzerland, Medida Prix will accept submissions in english language.
Organization of eduhub days: Rolf Brugger (RB) briefly summarizes the eduhub days '09 and their organization. There is an overall consesus in the ETWG that the eduhub days '09 were a success. The basic model that includes a high participation of the community should not be changed. Co-organizing future eduhub days with other organizations or groups is not excluded, but the eduhub days should be kept focused. RB points out, that the future eduhub days can only be organized, if the community, the ETWG and the SWITCH management explicitly support it. Hansruedi Born (HB) expresses his wish to include several ETWG members in the program committee of the edubub days 2010.
Communication with CRUS: CRUS has named Prof. Andreas Fischer, Rektor of UZH as e-learning delegate. PJ and RB have contacted Prof. Fischer. It has been proposed that Mr. Schaad serves as an intermediary between the ETWG and Prof. Fischer. RB will contact Aude Pacton to develop future communication procedures which allow the ETWG to communicate directly with the e-learning delegate or CRUS
Special Interest Groups SIG: RB presents the idea and purpose of SIGs and the duties of SWITCH, the ETWG members and the SIG members. During the eduhub days, five SIG proposals have been developed: - future funding opportunities (Leader: Stefano Tardini) - games and learning (Leader: Luca Botturi) - open educational resources (Leaders: Riccarda Reimer, Matthias Scheidl) - e-assessments (Leaders: Cornelia Rüdel, Brigitte Schmucki) - Educational Trendspotting (Leader: Andreas König) The was a controversal discussion, if the e-portfolio topic should be included into the e-assessment SIG. It was finally decided to officially start the five SIGs as suggested by their leaders. All SIGs have a public wiki-space on the eduhub http://www.eduhub.ch/community/SIGs
Information exchange: An important aim of the eduhub is to support information exchange between national e-learning support centers. Andreas Röllinghoff (AR) presents the current exchange tools on the website: events, conferences, list of support centers with description and selected highlights. Planned future offering are e-learning news, LMS installation statistics, training and continuing education offerings. RB and AR ask the ETWG to contribute to the various information exchange tools. The ETWG is basically ready to contribute but their resources are limited. SWITCH is asked to continue its investments into the website and the community in general.
SWITCH Services: SWITCH offers various technical services which are related to education. Some of these services will be improved in the future, new services may be developed and some services may be stopped. SWITCH does have established contacts to the universities to develop service strategies, but it asks the ETWG if it is interested to be the contact for e-learning related strategic decisions. The ETWG is interested in strategic discussions but currently not ready to make specific recommendations about the development of SWITCH services. Gudrun Bachmann states that Universities make their strategic recommendations during the SWITCH site visits, and that an additional communication channel is not needed. SWITCH is asked to be as transparent as possible when services are developed, improved or stopped. No decision was taken.
