eduhub is the e-learning community of Swiss Higher Education Institutions. eduhub, which stands for "edu" and "hub", has been continually growing since its early beginnings, and has by now become one of the most important meeting points for e-learning experts in the Swiss academic community. Founded in 2008, as a follow-up of the Swiss Virtual Campus Project, eduhub today celebrates its 10 year anniversary. Despite its relatively old age counting in community years, the Swiss e-Learning Community is still going strong, and does not only look back to many successfully concluded e-learning projects and new e-learning services (AAA, Learning Infrastructure, SEB Consortium), but does also look out on to a bright future.
One of eduhub's key success factors is the diversity of its community. Members of this community are from all over Switzerland. The community exceeds the borders of the "Röstigraben". One of eduhub's strengths is the awareness of its linguistic and cultural differences and consciously turning them into an advantage. Therefore, eduhub's lingua franca is English, so that no one feels (linguistically) excluded. Languages build bridges, and therefore it is important, that everybody in the Swiss e-Learning Community speaks the same language.
Another key success factor is, that the members of the community are intrinsically motivated. They participate not because they have to or are paid for, but because they want to. Members of Swiss e-Learning Community seek an active exchange of experiences and best practices with their peers from other institutions of higher education institutions. The projects they want to discuss and work on are defined by themselves, they set the goals they want to achieve. What is more, members of eduhub are very driven and passionate about everything that has to do with new learning technologies.
A third key success factor is trust – the Swiss e-Learning Community is built on trust. Most members of eduhub have known each other personally for years, have worked together on projects across institutional and linguistic borders, and love to exchange ideas. The community meets regularly at the yearly national e-learning conference eduhub days, or in smaller meetings of the Special Interest Groups or the Swiss Academic Moodle Community (SAMoo). This personal contact between community members is the glue that holds it together and differentiates it from other communities, that exist only in the virtual world.
Behind eduhub is the Swiss National Research and Education Network SWITCH, which coordinates the activities of the Swiss e-Learning Community by organising its events, coordinating the meetings of the Special Interest Groups and SAMoo, as well as organising workshops and monthly webinars, which are presented by members of the eduhub. SWITCH is coordinating and financing the events of eduhub in the sense of a community engagement, however the content of the activities of eduhub are entirely determined by the community members themselves, as they are the experts of new learning technologies in higher education.
Therefore, and to celebrate 10 years anniversary as the most successful e-learning community in Switzerland, SWITCH has invited some of the most engaged members of the Swiss e-Learning Community to give their statement about eduhub and new learning technologies at their institution. Every two months SWITCH will publish a new video statement. Come and watch them on SWITCHtube.
There are also two new SWITCH stories, one about the eduhub days 2018 birthday celebration and one with an interview of Nathalie Roth, who coordinates the Swiss e-Learning Community on behalf of SWITCH.

We are looking forward to your visit!
