Project NAU: A national MOOC initiative

The MOOC phenomenon is growing. At the moment there is a constant offer of more than 1'500 courses online from 400 universities/institutions on worldwide, regional and local platforms. The challenges and opportunities to higher education will, inevitably, force change. FCT|FCCN, as the National Research Council and National Research Education Network manager of Portugal, has put in motion a project to provide a nationwide solution that allows, not only, higher education institutions to provide their content in the MOOC space, but also to public administration, to provide training to public servants and (in)formation to citizens at scale. This webinar will be about the project motivation and goals, decisions made (strategy, services, infrastructure), a view over the services beyond IT and the steps and challenges to create a higher education based production ecosystem that will promote the project sustainability.
