13. November 2019, David Yela, UNIBE

At the festival a short version of the educational video without interactive elements will be played. The full version, enriched with interactions for the spectator, can be found online on the website of flashmoocs.unibe.ch.

The video is part of the flashMOOCs series, which is produced by the University of Bern. The portrayed professors of the university present a case from their research field. In the mentioned video, Prof. Dr. Matthias Erb describes five different strategies for fighting insect pests and explains their advantages and disadvantages. The Western Corn Rootworm is a good example, as the insect shows great ability of adaptation and resistance to most insect fighting strategies. This makes clear that more research on the topic is necessary in order to ensure food security on earth.
