How to use explanation videos in teaching

Educational videos are a flexible and fun tool and can bring important messages home in a matter of minutes. Also, they tend to be watched passively and students tend to over-estimate the learning gains they get from watching videos. This webinar explores several scenarios of using videos productively in class:

  1. Using videos as learning aids and motivational aids
  2. Coupling videos with practical appplication formats such as case work
  3. Letting students create their own videos
  4. Creating agile courses where students use the videos for self-service education

At the same time, the webinar will look at some media theory: What messages videos can transport effectively, how they transport it differently than other academic media and how students and lecturers can use them to reach their respective goals.
