SIG Digital Collaboration: 3D Collaboration with QUBE

In this online activity we will gain further experience with avatar-based 3D collaboration – where we try out some scenarios for collaboration in the 3D office environment called QUBE (platform, theory, company).

QUBE is a 3D collaborative virtual environment (3D CVE) of the type "virtual world", in practice a virtual "business building" or "business campus", with office rooms which facilitate very immersive real time activities. In any office, pin boards, tablets and chairs, panels and other objects needed during the meeting can be placed where the users need them (on the floor or fixed on walls).

Each participant in QUBE is represented by an avatar and can move it around the office, can meet other participants, sit with them and chat at tables, interact in front of a whiteboard by writing cards and fixing them on the board, point to items on the walls in the room, walk to other offices with a breakout group, work at an individual desk, etc. A special feature of QUBE is its PET Library, a collection of so-called PETs (Performance Enhancing Tools) which are guidelines or procedures for collaborating on business tasks.

QUBE requires only a browser and a small installation (about 100 MB); it runs mainly on PC, but can also be installed on Mac.

Together we will visit differently designed rooms and use them for collaboration purposes.

If you would like to participate in this online activity, please register to this meeting. Registered participants will receive all information for joining the meeting.
