Virtual exchange: MOOCs for credits

EPFL participates in an international MOOCs for Credit exchange project with several other European, Australian and US universities. These universities offer the opportunity to their students to follow a MOOC and receive credits towards their Bachelor or Master programme. Students can learn at their own pace and at a time that suits them, whilst still working toward gaining their degree. They will be guided by inspiring lecturers from a number of high-ranking international universities – and have the opportunity to study and engage with committed students from around the world. On completion of the online course and on successful final assessment (this can vary, from an on-campus written exam to a digital oral assessment with the lecturer) they will receive credits for their grade list. They can use these credits, subject to approval and with a maximum of six, as part of their elective programme (optional courses). Organising this exchange means organising simultaneous exams, asking extra efforts from our teachers and coordinating many administrative processes. In this webinar I will elaborate on the initiative and all its' organisational challenges.
